A 26-year-old woman has been charged in court for allegedly beating and biting her lover's wife's armpits after she was denied talking to him. Muthoni wanted to forcefully talk to Wangui's husband.
The accused allegedly turned violent and assaulted Peris Susan Wangui after she barred her from talking to her husband. Catherine Muthoni was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, April 21, and faced one count of assault and causing bodily harm.
The man in question told the court that Muthoni was his ex-girlfriend.
"You are charged that on April 2022 13, 2022 at AMG Centre at R1 Osters in Kasarani sub-county within Nairobi City County, assaulted Peris Susan Wangui, occasioning her actual bodily harm" read the charge sheet. He said his ex-lover wrestled his wife Wangui in front of him in Kasarani estate, Nairobi.
"I knew Catherine as my former girlfriend. She had come to my business premises and she told her to wait at the reception but she arrogantly refused, began pushing my wife," read a statement by Wangui's husband.
Court documents indicate that on the material day, Muthoni went to Wangui's business premises accompanied by a man who claimed to be a police officer and demanded to speak to her husband.
"The complainant was together with her husband and other employees when the accused person started an altercation with the complainant and assaulted the complainant by bitting her armpit" read the cover report in part Muthoni pleaded not guilty.
Wangui in her statement to the police said that Muthoni went to her business premises and demanded to speak to her husband.
"The complainant who is known to me physically since I have met her before at the same office came and told me to leave the office since she wanted to speak to my husband" read part of her statement to the police.
Catherine pleaded not guilty before senior principal magistrate Esther Kimilu and was released on a cash bail of KSh 20,000.
