Police have arrested two women in Saba Saba Murang'a county while transporting six sacks of marijuana in their station wagon.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigations, the two women were arrested on Monday evening after a dramatic police chase along the Nakuru-Nyahururu-Nyeri-Murang'a highway.

The product had been neatly arranged in a grey Toyota Wish, KBS 156S, being driven by one of the ladies.

“Prior to their arrest, the duo had engaged Transnational & Organized Crimes (TOCU) detectives in a high-octane highway race, with the lady behind the steering exhibiting all signs of a Formula 1 finalist,” DCI stated in a report on Monday.

The ladies, whose Toyota Wish was stacked to the brim with the consignment, are said to have evaded police roadblocks on the highway before detectives chased their vehicle and intercepted them.

DCI has established that the consignment was being ferried from Busia to Nairobi.

Caroline Mariwa & Nancy Wangare have since been transferred to the directorate's headquarters in Nairobi for processing over drug trafficking as they await arraignment on Tuesday.
