The Supreme Court of Kenya is in its early stages of hearing the Presidential Election Petition challenging the declaration of William Ruto as President-elect.

On Tuesday, the court kicked off a Pre-Trial Conference to formulate timelines, issues to be discussed and determined in the main trial.

The court outlined 9 key issues that will be determined during the hearing which were considered by the parties in the Pre-Trial Conference.

7 Presidential Election Petitions have been consolidated into one since they had similar issues and were also seeking similar orders. They will be merged with the lead petition; EOO5, which was filed by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua.

On September 5, the Supreme Court will give its final ruling, lifting the lid on whether William Ruto was duly elected as the 5th President of Kenya, and if the IEBC conducted a free and fair exercise.
