Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has denied claims that his administration will be charging the family of the late Isaac Juma KSh 100,000 to use the Bukhungu Stadium for the funeral.
Isaac Juma's family booked the stadium to host Juma's funeral service for the members of the public to pay their last respects.
According to reports circulating on social media earlier this week, the county government was seeking to charges KSh 100,000 to the family before they access the venue.
However, Oparanya has come out to denounce the reports, clarifying that the bereaved family will be allowed to conduct their kin's final rites at the stadium pro-bono.
"My attention has been drawn to claims that my Government is asking for a KSh 100,000 fee from the family of the slain ardent football fan Isaac Juma before allowing them to use Bukhungu Stadium for public viewing of his body, we have offered them the stadium free of any charges," said Oparanya.
