The husband to Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru, Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo has aired his sentiments after his wife joined the Deputy President William Ruto's UDA.
Speaking to a local publication in the country, lawyer Waiganjo stated that he supports Waiguru’s decision to ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee. “I support her 110 percent. That is her prerogative. Respect demands that I support her. "
Kamotho has also refuted claims that were posted on social media that he wasn’t going to support or rather join UDA. “Due to ideological differences, I cannot join UDA leave alone supporting Ruto. In my family of seven, only HE Ann Waiguru (my wife) supports Ruto. Joining Ruto's UDA was her personal decision, and not the position of our family."
On Teusday morning, Waiguru joined UDA after meeting with Deputy President William Ruto at his official Karen Residence. This comes few weeks after she had indicated that she could ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp and formally join Ruto’s “hustler nation movement”.
The Governor has numerously reiterated that she would seek re-election in 2022, rather than seek endorsement as a presidential running mate.
